One Phd Scholarship in the School of Economics & Finance, University of St Andrews

The School of Economics and Finance at the University of St Andrews, is offering one PhD scholarship to be taken up in Autumn 2010 - or as soon as possible thereafter - to work on any topic related Economics or Finance.

The value of the scholarship will be £4,800 per year for three years - subject to satisfactory performance each year to enable progression to the subsequent year.

To be awarded the Scholarship a candidate must first gain admission to the University as a PhD student. Admission to the PhD programme is conditional on successful completion of a Masters degree in economics or in related subjects, and the submission of a satisfactory research proposal on a topic related to the research interests and capabilities of the School. The School has particular strengths in monetary economics, international macroeconomics, models of macroeconomics with adaptive learning, microeconomic theory, bounded rationality, household economics, industrial economics (especially competition and innovation), econometrics, and time series analysis. The award of the scholarship is competitive, open to all who have been admitted to the PhD programme, and based on considerable distinction in terms of academic performance. In particular this will require candidates to have demonstrated outstanding performance on a high quality, rigorously based Masters degree, which provides a fitting preparation for the Phd programme and to supply references that fully endorse their academic merit.

While candidates seeking admission to the PhD programme can apply at any time, those wishing to be considered for the Scholarship must apply by March 31st, 2010, indicating on their application that they wish to be considered for the Scholarship. A decision on the award of the scholarship will be taken by the end of April 2010.
